MSc Fellowship

The UNU-GTP offers MSc Fellowships to former Fellows.  Many UNU Fellows have already completed their MSc or PhD degrees when they come to Iceland, but several excellent students with BSc degrees have made requests to come back to Iceland for a higher academic degree. The master’s programme is intended to offer this opportunity to outstanding fellows. The MSc programme is a cooperation between the UNU-GTP and the University of Iceland and Reykjavík University. The MSc degree in Science and Engineering is granted by the University of Iceland or Reykjavík University.

The Six Months Training Programme is an integral part of the MSc programme and accounts for 30 ECTS out of 120 in total. The additional 90 ECTS are to be completed at the University of Iceland in the form of lectures and thesis work according to faculty agreements.  The completion of the MSc degree is expected to take about 1˝ years in addition to the 6 months at UNU-GTP.

The first Fellowship for a MSc degree was given in late 1999. The pioneer was Muthafar Emeish, an engineer from Jordan and a UNU Fellow in 1999. His project was about simulation of house heating systems in Jordan. He completed his studies in May 2001.
