BIOGRAPHICAL STATEMENT

Dr. Benedikt Steingrímsson is the Deputy Director of Iceland GeoSurvey (ÍSOR) and Director of Geothermal Energy for ÍSOR. He has over 40 years of experience in geothermal exploration and development with emphasis on geophysical logging of boreholes, reservoir engineering and monitoring, reservoir management, teaching and project management. He has been involved in all major geothermal projects in Iceland during the last four decades and several foreign projects and is an experienced lecturer in the field of geothermal project planning, geothermal logging, well testing, reservoir monitoring and management of geothermal reservoirs.

Benedikt is a member of the Board of Consultant (BoC) for KenGen. He is responsible for the field of Reservoir Management, and as such, responsible to give the Client professional advice, review and evaluations of geothermal development activities done by KenGen and transfer of knowledge to KenGen staff during the contract period (see TOR).

He has done various consulting and reconnaissance missions abroad including work for the International Atomic Energy Association (IAEA) and the United Nations on geothermal exploration and development and geothermal training for UNU-GTP in Iceland and in special training courses in Kenya, Uganda and El Salvador. Lecturer at training courses for CFG and BRGM of France, IGME of Greece, PNOC-EDC of the Philippines, LaGeo of El Salvador.

Furthermore, he is a member of:

The Study Board of the UNU Geothermal Training Programme in Iceland since 1985.
The Board of Directors of the International Geothermal Association (IGA) 2007-2013.
The editorial board of Geothermics and guest editor of a special issue of Geothermics on direct uses of geothermal in 1990.
The BoC for KenGen in the field of Reservoir Management since 2011 to 2016.
